5. What’s the Difference Between Long Stay and Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance?
Long stay and annual multi-trip travel insurance cover travel in different ways.
- Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance: Covers multiple short trips within a 12-month period, with each trip lasting no more than 62 days
- Long Stay Travel Insurance: Designed to cover one continuous long trip lasting up to 18 months, with the possibility of extending to 24 months upon referral
If you’ve planned several trips within a year—such as a skiing holiday in winter, a city tour during Easter, and a beach vacation in summer—an annual multi-trip policy is likely the better option. Click here to learn more about Annual Travel Insurance.
6. Which Area Should I Select on Extended Travel Insurance?
When planning a 6-month trip across multiple destinations, it’s important to select the correct area on your 6 month holiday insurance. For the different destinations, we’ve categorised into 3 main areas.
For trips limited to Europe, you’ll need to select Area 2 when getting a quote. This area includes the following destinations:
- The United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland
- The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
- Western Europe
- Countries with a Mediterranean coastline (excluding Algeria, Libya, Syria, and Israel)
- The Canary Islands, Madeira, and Iceland
Worldwide Coverage
For long trips that are beyond Europe, you’ll need travel insurance for six months with worldwide coverage. There are two options:
- Area 3: Includes all countries in Areas 1 & 2, plus worldwide (excluding North America, the USA, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Bermuda)
- Area 4: Includes all countries in Areas 1, 2 & 3, plus North America, the USA, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Bermuda
Be sure to select all applicable areas to ensure you have the right level of cover for your long-term travels.
7. Do I Need Holiday Insurance for Long Term Trip That Is 2-Months Long?
Yes – but the type of 2 months travel insurance you need would depend on how long your trip is. If your holiday will be 2 months or less, then a 60 day holiday insurance policy for single trips is more likely to meet your needs. Click here to find out more about 60 day travel insurance.
However, if your trip is expected to last longer than 2 months or you think you might want to extend your trip past 60 days, then a single trip travel insurance for 60 days would not be suitable for. In this case, a travel insurance for long term travel may be the better option for you.
