Ski and snowboard options with Voyager Travel Insurance

As the ski season starts to gain momentum in Europe, there are a number of options with Voyager Travel Insurance to cover you while you are on holiday abroad enjoying the snow.
According to research by Aviva some 2 in 5 people travelling abroad for a ski holiday will do so without the appropriate wintersports cover. Clearly many skiers and snowboarders do not realise the potential costs involved in receiving piste rescue and/or medical treatment as a result of injury on the slopes. Without the appropriate wintersports cover it is unlikely that any medical costs be covered by insurers, potentially leaving skiers and boarders with a large bill to pay even if they have an EHIC card.
Voyager Travel Insurance policies will cover you for skiing and snowboarding up to the age of 74 (except for long stay policy, which is up to a maximum age of 64), so there is no need to worry that you won’t be covered even if you are a more senior skier.
Your ski or snowboard equipment is covered for loss, theft or damage whether they are owned, borrowed or rented. So if this is your first time skiing and you are borrowing your skis or snowboard from a friend or relative, then you are covered.
Off-piste skiing and snowboarding is covered providing you follow all local ski patrol guidelines. Heli-skiing can be covered with the payment of the Action Plus activities additional premium, however, please note: the policy excess is increased to £200 and there is no cover under section 4 – personal accident and no cover under section 10 – personal liability, whilst participating in this activity. Annual multi-trip
If you have an Annual Multi-trip policy then you automatically have 21 days wintersports cover for the year. European Annual multi-trips start from just £48.67 for an individual.

Single trip
If you only want to cover one trip this year and it is skiing or snowboarding then you can purchase a single trip travel insurance policy with the wintersports upgrade. A Single trip to Europe for a week with wintersports cover starts from £39.46.

Long stay
For long stay policies there are two options, you can either purchase cover for 31 days wintersports for throughout the duration of your trip abroad or you can purchase cover for the entire period.
Under a long stay policy you are not covered under section 19 – Piste closure.

Ski instructor courses
