Voyager Launches Hire Car Excess Cover

Posted in General on 26 January 2011

Voyager Insurance Services is pleased to announce the launch of its Hire Car Excess Insurance product.

Although many standard car rental agreements include a collision damage waiver (CDW), many of these agreements do not cover other forms of damage to the car or if it’s stolen while you are renting it, potentially leaving you with a hefty bill to pay.

Voyager’s Hire Car Excess cover (also known as Excess Reimbursement Insurance or ERI) gives you protection against having to pay an excess should you inadvertently damage your hire car, including the tyres, glass and under-body of the vehicle, which is sometimes excluded by hire companies.

Other benefits include cover if you accidentally put the wrong type of fuel in the rental car and even the loss of keys.

Cover can be arranged on a single trip (up to a maximum of 180 days) or annual basis (each trip up to 31 days), depending on your needs. Standard cover applies for rentals outside your home country; however cover for vehicle rentals in the UK can be purchased for an additional premium.

Prices start from just £7.20, so it is well worth purchasing a policy just in case.
