Senior Travellers struggle to get Travel Insurance

According to the International Travel Insurance Journal (ITIJ) a recent report by Which? found that older travellers over the age of 65 are still finding it difficult to arrange appropriate travel insurance.

Gordon Morris of Age UK commented on the report by stating ‘The Which? report reveals real difficulties that those in later life can face when purchasing travel insurance.’ He added ‘However, it is essential to be completely transparent when purchasing a policy, advising your provider of any medical conditions.’

While some insurers simply will not cover older travellers, the Able2Travel policy caters for those aged over-65 by providing travel insurance with a wider acceptance of pre-existing medical conditions. Other travel insurance policies not geared towards the older traveller may well exclude these medical conditions from cover.

Although covering any pre existing medical conditions is important, travellers should also remember that Able2Travel travel insurance confers a number of other benefits:

  • Cancellation or Curtailment cover
  • Financial failure of holiday supplier
  • Travel Delay benefit
  • Missed departure
  • Baggage Cover
