Are you covered to ski?

AXA Insurance has undertaken research into travellers planning on taking winter sports holidays, according to the International Travel Insurance Journal.

The research indicates that 10% of winter sports enthusiasts will not take out any travel cover when they go on their winter sports holiday, which is concerning as it also shows that nearly 1 in 3 of them will make a claim at some point and a quarter have suffered an injury whilst skiing or snowboarding in the past.

They also discovered that 1 in 4 travellers will rely on a travel insurance policy that they already have, without checking if they have winter sports cover. This approach could leave people facing thousands of pounds of medical costs as any injuries that happen while skiing or snowboarding will not be covered if winter sports cover has not been taken out.

Winter sports cover is included as standard with Voyager Travel Insurance Annual Multi-trip policies and can be added for an additional cost to single trip and long stay policies, so if you are planning a winter sports holiday make sure you have the right cover in place.
